Families after families left homeless due to the devastating typhoon Ondoy made worse by at least two more typhoons that brought more damages to the affected areas and even increased the number of victims, the same tragedy also touched the hearts of countless Filipinos from different sectors to reach out and help!

From young to old, more and more people started to bag food, clothes and other relief supplies in plastic bags in different sizes and colors, unfortunately, this act of kindness is also posting future environmental problems. As we all know garbage was one of the major causes of the flooding.

Three NGOs banded together to help:

The Philippine Children’s Fund of America, with the Filipino American Rural Mission (FARM) located in Sacramento, CA and our Philippine counterpart the “Paradise Ranch” located in Clark Air Base have joined hands putting our efforts together to maximize resources and logistics and to help spare the environment from more waste or garbage. We are very concern na and sensitive to the future of the environment and to the health of the victims.

Traditional Baon:

Instead of packing goodies in plastic bags we are serving meals (rice and chicken adobo and eggs) wrapped in banana leaves accompanied by fresh fruits and bottled water, this is the traditional and  delicious Filipino Baon. “We make sure we are not serving any more noodles as this will only help in the development of more UTI and other illnesses to the victims in the near future.”

Athletes Foot:

In addition to the delicious food serve the healthy and eco friendly way, we are focusing on distributing emergency kits filled with sanitizer, alcohol, peroxide, diarrhea, fever and headache tablets and of course athletes foot ointment  many more essentials.

Don’t want our guests to miss the opportunity:

In all events the Paradise Ranch is hosting from field tours to get-together or even wedding parties, we make sure that all are given the opportunity to share and reach out to the victims. This is going to be a long stretch suffering, we don’t want people to think that Ondoy is gone, perhaps it is, however the suffering, the pain and the sad memories and realities of this calamity will be here and will remind the victims everyday as they struggle to pick up pieces of their broken and shuttered lives.”
